Breaking News: Smael Mondon Signs!

Two out of the three currently committed five-stars have signed their LOI’s after the latest signing from Smael Mondon.

The Paulding County native brings much-needed versatility to the class as a player that can do it all. Mondon was a two-way player in high school playing both running back and linebacker. His ability to play both inside and outside linebacker is intriguing as he adds depth to both positions.

Mondon is 6’3 220 pounds with the impressive length for a linebacker, who has a lot of room to grow in muscle mass, as his frame will fill out with a college-level strength and conditioning program.

At inside linebacker, he does well to drop back in coverage and try to make a play on the ball in coverage, by positioning himself where the quarterback wants to go. Coming off the edge is where his athleticism shows as he has a quick burst that helps him run right past offensive tackles. He brings the heat in the open field as a reliable and hard tackler.

With his quick burst of athleticism and speed, Mondon has shown the ability to stop the run and be successful in the pursuit of a running back. He rushes the passer from anywhere on the field, which makes him so dangerous.

Mondon will bring athleticism and pure talent to both of the linebacker positions and be a weapon for Dan Lanning to use on campus.
