What Went Well? What Went Wrong in the Peach Bowl?

The Georgia Bulldogs pulled off an ugly win in the heart of Atlanta as they are now the 2020 Peach Bowl Champions. A last-minute field goal would send the Dawgs home to Athens as the champions over an underrated Cincinnati team.

Not the prettiest of showings for the Dawgs as the offense struggled throughout the game. The Cincinnati defense caused the readjusted offensive line problems in the running game and pass protection.

The Dawgs defense stepped up for Georgia late in the second half as they fought and clawed to slow down the explosive Bearcat offense. The projected first-round pick, Azeez Ojulari, showed exactly why he is one of the highly coveted edge rushers.

What Went Well?

Azeez Ojulari

The star edge rusher for the Dawgs made a big decision by coming back to play in the Peach Bowl with the Dawgs. Ojulari is a projected first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Azeez’s elite combination of skill and athleticism help Georgia pave the way to a second-half comeback victory.

Never Losing Hope

Even when things looked bleak for the Dawgs in the second half, the Georgia offense struggled for consistency. The defense kept up the fight as they fought hard to keep the Cincinnati offense off the field and force their defense to win the game.

The poise of individuals like JT Daniels, Azeez Ojulari, and Lativous Brini spoke volumes about the confidence in the Dawgs’ ability.

What Went Wrong?

Poor Offensive Line

The Georgia offensive line was without two starters for the bowl game. Starting center Trey Hill underwent surgery to repair minor injuries in both knees. At the same time, Ben Cleveland opted out of the Peach Bowl to begin preparation for the NFL Draft.

The Georgia offensive line struggled with a scrappy, undersized Cincy defense that held the Georgia running attack back. Georgia struggled to pick up much in the run game, while JT Daniels was always mobile in the pocket due to the pass rush.

Slow Start

Georgia came out of the game slow as they struggled to keep up with the Bearcats. Desmond Ridder led the Cincinnati offense to great success against the stingy Georgia defense in the first half.

While the defense wasn’t lagging too far behind in the first half, the Georgia offense struggled to produce much in the running game as the Bearcat front seven shut down the Georgia run game.
