Top 2020 Georgia Target Nyland Green's Decision Looms
Newton High’s four-star defensive back Nyland Green’s college decision looms over many college programs today. Green, the Newton High product, is the recipient of offers from many College Football’s elite programs. Newton will make his decision Tuesday at 10 AM.
The finalists for the commitment of Green are Georgia, Clemson, LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee. Three SEC programs, including the likes of rivals like Auburn and Tennesee. The weight that comes with playing for one of these programs is immense. Green has shown that he can handle the pressure of deciding on the one he is about to make.
Nyland is the number 5 cornerback and 69th player overall in the 2021 recruiting class. His recruitment is one of the most unpredictable in the country as the “favorite” varies week to week among analysts.
An excellent height and stature make him one of the most intriguing defensive back prospects in the class. An acrobatic, long frame with a tremendous leaping ability helps him on the basketball court when throwing down some dunks. Combine leaping ability with high-level ball skills, and you get Nyland Green.
Green brings two-way versatility as he plays cornerback and receiver for his high school team. Experience at receiver helps him out when playing cornerback as he continues to improve upon his ball skills.
Nyland can also help out at safety as he has seen reps in a two safety pairing. He projects more at cornerback at the college level, as his ball skills and leaping ability help him in coverage. He is one of the top defensive backs in the class and will impact the next level wherever he decides to play.
Cornerback is a position of need for Georgia this offseason as Mark Webb and DJ Daniel will depart from Athens due to graduation. Add in potential early departures from Eric Stokes and Tyson Campbell.
Under Kirby Smart, Georgia has become a landing spot for many of the top defensive backs in each recruiting class. Smart’s pedigree for overseeing the development of some of the top defensive backs in college turn into an NFL future.
