The center position is one of the most critical positions on the offensive line in football. The connection between the quarterback and center is essential due to the pre-snaps reads made at both positions and the snapping of the football.

Warran Ericson is the early favorite for the starting job at center for the remainder of the season. The 6’4 305-pound redshirt sophomore from Suwanee, Georgia, saw action early on against Arkansas at center. Ericson entered the game in place of Trey Hill, who slid out to guard to help rest Cleveland and Shaffer at times.

Ericson most recently saw action at both guard and center in the win over South Carolina last weekend as a reserve offensive linemen. The prior experience and play of Ericson make him an early favorite at the position.

Redshirt freshman Clay Webb is a name who could potentially see snaps at some point this season. Webb saw his first action of the season at guard against South Carolina. It is said that Webb is a backup at center and guard.

Highly regarded freshman Sedrick Van Pran is also a name who could see an increase in reps on the practice field along with in-game snaps. Van Pran is a former four-star center from the 2020 class who has played in just three games this season.

Competition on the offensive line is fierce as Georgia is adept with a wealth of talent at all five positions along the offensive line. While losing a reliable starter like Trey Hill, it is something that Georgia and Matt Luke can handle.
